Why Was This Law Passed? The purpose of AB 413 is to increase visibility at intersections by preventing vehicles from blocking sightlines near crosswalks and stop signs. This change enhances safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. What Does This Law Prohibit? Under AB 413, drivers cannot stop, stand, or park within 20 feet of a crosswalk, including briefly stopping to pick up or drop off passengers. How This Affects You If you currently park near a crosswalk or stop sign, please make sure to follow the new 20-foot clearance rule to avoid penalties.
