Pinehurst Hills Earns National Firewise USA® Recognition
Posted By Susan Elmorabit on July 8, 2026
I am pleased to share some exciting news with our community!
This week, Pinehurst Hills Homeowners Association was officially recognized as a Firewise USA® Site by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This prestigious designation reflects our community’s commitment to wildfire preparedness and our shared responsibility to help protect our homes, families, and neighborhood.
The Firewise USA® Recognition Program was launched by the National Fire Protection Association in 2002 to help neighborhoods work together to reduce wildfire risk through education, planning, and community action. Today, thousands of communities across the country participate in this voluntary program, helping make neighborhoods safer and more resilient in the face of wildfire.
Achieving Firewise recognition is about much more than earning a certificate. It represents our community’s ongoing commitment to wildfire preparedness by encouraging defensible space, reducing combustible vegetation, improving home ignition resistance, and educating residents on practical steps that can help protect lives and property. By working together to reduce wildfire hazards, we are helping create a safer, more resilient community for everyone who calls Pinehurst Hills home.
There is also a financial benefit for homeowners. Under California’s Safer from Wildfires insurance regulations, admitted insurance companies are required to provide premium discounts for qualifying wildfire mitigation measures, including recognized community-level programs such as Firewise USA®. The amount of the discount varies by insurance carrier, so homeowners are encouraged to contact their insurance company and provide a copy of Pinehurst Hills’ Firewise USA Recognition Certificate to ensure they receive any applicable savings.
For your convenience, a copy of Pinehurst Hills’ Firewise USA Recognition Certificate is available on the Resident Portal. We encourage every homeowner to download a copy and submit it to their insurance carrier or agent to inquire about available premium discounts.
While Firewise recognition is an accomplishment worth celebrating, it is also an ongoing commitment. Maintaining our recognition requires annual community participation, education, and continued wildfire mitigation efforts. Through the continued support of our homeowners, Board of Directors, community volunteers, management team, and our local fire service partners, Pinehurst Hills will continue working to reduce wildfire risk and protect the community we all enjoy.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and dedication to achieving this important milestone. Together, we are helping make Pinehurst Hills a safer, stronger, and more resilient community for years to come.
